Malik Ngugi is a second-year student at Howard University from Wichita, KS majoring in both Political Science and Spanish. He has a special interest in international relations and foreign policy that stems from his Kenyan immigrant parents. Currently, Malik is the Programs and Policy Intern at Hunt Alternatives. In this role, he fulfills the domestic and international initiatives of Ambassador Swanee Hunt by providing material to aid Amb. Hunt in her high-level meetings with various members of the US Government and the international community and contributing as staff to the events she hosts. Ngugi is an award-winning member of Howard University’s Model United Nations team where he also serves as Treasurer. An alumnus of the Howard University’s Diaspora Connect inter-cultural exchange program aimed at building bilingual Spanish-English communication skills, he has studies and worked with university students of African descent in Colombia and on campus in Washington, DC.   He is also Bunche Brigade student volunteer at Howard University’s Ralph J. Bunche International Affairs Center. Outside of his studies, internship, and volunteerism, Ngugi is a certified USSF Soccer Referee who has worked at the highest levels of youth soccer and college club soccer. For fun, he enjoys listening to podcasts and music, watching the Premier League soccer and NFL football, and reading books.
