Kate Rhoda Nkrumah

Kate Rhoda Nkrumah (B.A ‘24) is an African Studies major and Political Science minor from Cincinnati, Ohio. As a first-generation Ghanaian American woman, Nkrumah’s interest in international affairs is based on her commitment to the advancement of African women’s social, political, and economic liberation. During her matriculation at Howard University, Nkrumah has been an active member of the African Student Association and Muslim Student Association. Nkrumah is also a member of Ujima First, a community-oriented collective that aims to feed and politically empower the Black community in Washington, DC. She also serves as a staff writer for The Liberato, Howard’s political review. After graduation, Nkrumah aims to combine her interests in women’s rights and journalism to pursue a master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies. Nkrumah aspires to work as a Foreign Correspondent specializing in conflict, migration, and violations of women’s rights across Sub-Saharan Africa and the MENA region. Personally, Nkrumah is passionate about African cultural expression through literature, oral performance art and song, dance, and fashion.
