Chyra Williams (B.S. ’24) is a biology major and double minor in chemistry and Spanish from Paterson, New Jersey. Williams’ passion for addressing issues of racial and ethnic disparities began in high school, where she found her voice for speaking against inequality. While participating in Howard University’s  Diaspora Connect inter-cultural exchange program, Williams learned that maternal healthcare disparities among Black women is an international issue. As a result, she plans to pursue a career through which she can act on her passion for helping Afro-diasporic communities with particular focus given to maternal healthcare and wellness. Williams enjoys reading, practicing Spanish, engaging in community service activities, and traveling. She looks forward to expanding her knowledge of the African Diaspora with an upcoming trip to Havana, Cuba with Howard University.
