Abdirahim Mohamoud

International Affairs Track

Abdirahim Mohamoud (B.A. ‘25) is majoring in Political Science and minoring in Economics. He was born in Nairobi, Kenya, and immigrated to the United States in 2005. Growing up in a family of Somali immigrants, Mohamoud is bilingual in Somali and English; and he is learning Arabic. Prior to being selected as a Patricia Robert Harris International Affairs Fellow, he worked on Capitol Hill as a Congressional Intern for Senator Ron Wyden.  He also worked in the Oregon State Legislature as an Intern for Senator Kayse Jama. Mohamoud continues to remain civically, socially, and politically engaged as evidenced by his campaigning efforts to elect local school board members, and his work on hate speech policies and anti-racism resolutions. He was able to secure funding in the amount of $500,000 to overhaul student athletic fees in Oregon’s Tigard Tualatin School District. Mohamoud plans to study abroad in an Arabic-speaking country and aspires to work in the White House.
