Brooke Solomon

Public Affairs Track

Brooke Solomon (B.S. ‘24) is an Allied Health/Health Sciences major from Detroit, Michigan. Envisioning her future as a doctor who works to combat healthcare disparities in marginalized communities, she plans to pursue medical school upon graduation.   Solomon has serves as Programs Director in the College of Nursing and Allied Health Science at Howard University.  As a community organizer in Detroit, she helped found the organization, Detroit Area Youth Uniting Michigan, which has operated since 2018 as a youth-led activism space engaging in grassroots actions such as Detroit Public School water testing initiatives, COVID-19 Youth Task Force, and Direct-Action Camps. Last summer, she worked as an intern for the State of Michigan Office of the Environmental Justice Public Advocate where she aided research that determined federal funding allocation for frontline communities. She now interns with Howard University’s Environmental and Water Association.
